Ontario’s education minister Stephen Lecce made an announcement on the province’s March Break policy this afternoon.
In a news conference scheduled on February 11, Lecce appeared with Minister of Health Christine Elliott and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams to announce that March Break has been postponed until April 12.
Lecce said that last week he had given some thought whether to keep schools open for the week-long break. He mentioned that the decision will be made based on what the public health officials had to offer on COVID numbers as of late.
Ontario schools were forced to have their classes done virtually shortly after the Winter Break due to the increased COVID-19 case numbers. Since then, students in Ontario were granted the opportunity to go back to their classrooms.
Schools in Ottawa opened a week ago and schools while Toronto schools are slated to open on February 16th.
