Step One: Find an awesome up-and-coming comedian based in Kingston who still performs regularly in Ottawa. Well, you’re in luck! Allow me to introduce Aggie Winson!
After performing at a high school talent show, Aggie did her first professional gig at Raw Sugar. She has been doing comedy for roughly nine years now. Having performed at Yuk Yuk’s and Time to Laugh Comedy at Nawaz, she is no stranger to the Ottawa comedy scene. Aggie’s dream is to become a touring comedian and dreams of doing genre illustrations.
With her experience in the industry, the best advice she can give is, as she quotes, “Anything you do, you won’t be good at right away. Keep doing it!”
Step Two: Get acquainted with the Ottawa comedy scene. Here are some of the hottest comedy spots in Ottawa. Absolute Comedy is probably the most well-renowned spot in the city, located at 412 Preston Street. Yuk Yuk’s is another excellent choice, with two separate locations: one at 1394 Richmond Rd and the other downtown at 88 Albert St. Last but certainly not least is Capitol Comedy, which can be found at 101 York St.
Step Three: Make plans for November 13th! If you want to see Aggie in action, you’re in luck! She will be performing on the 13th at Il Vicolo, located at 118 Clarence St. in Ottawa. On the day of the event, the kitchen opens at 5:00 PM, and the comedy show will run from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Admission is FREE; however, food and drinks come at an extra cost. So, bring your friends and family for a good time! If you can’t make it to the show on the 13th, there’s no need to fret! Il Vicolo has comedy nights every Wednesday at the same time (though Aggie will not be performing every week). To find information on events at Il Vicolo, visit ilvicolo.ca.
